Step 1

To set up user verification before an individual is allowed to access to use SMPT server on your IIS, first you need to go to Start option and select the Program. Next, you need to select the Administrative Tools and IIS option.

Step 2

Next, you need to right click on SMTP virtual server and then choose the Properties option. Another window will appear, which is similar to the one shown below:

Under the Access Control option, you need to click on the Authentication command.

Step 4

By choosing the Basic Authentication user who wants to access SMTP administration module must provide an account name and password.

Can I restrict access to SMTP server on IP address level?

Yes, you can actually restrict access to SMTP serve on IP level.

To do this, first you need to go to Start and after that, choose Programs option. Later, you need to select the Administrative Tools and IIS option. Next, you need to right click on the SMTP virtual server and then choose Properties. Another window will appear which is similar to the one shown below:

Step 6

From here, you need to click on the Connection Control and again, another window will appear. User can choose whether the condition is to exclude or include a list provided by the users.
